Blooket is a trivia and review tool that allows educators to increase classroom engagement. It is a gamified learning platform where teachers host games through question sets and students answer on their own devices. This is an assessment centred tool, specifically formative assessment. When students get correct answers, they receive points, which allow them to buy and sell ‘Blooks’. On Blooket, there are hundreds of pre-made question sets for you to use or you have the option to make your own set unique to your class. This new take on reviewing or practising material can increase student engagement and excitement.
Within the Blooket games, each student is represented by a ‘Blook.’ Blooks appear on the screen as virtual characters. They allow all participants to keep track of individual progress and the progress of those they’re competing against. Each small block is represented by a different animal. The fun and friendly appearance of the Blooks and the Blooket interface helps students feel more comfortable. It also certainly helps engage them and increases the chances of educators delivering effective learning experiences.
The quirky games add variety and up the engagement, and students will want to play again and again. There are several games to choose from. In Gold Quest, the questions are self-paced and if a student answers correctly, they will be given a choice of three chests to open. Some have gold, some have nothing, and some allow you to take gold from other players. Other games include Cafe, Factory, Battle Royale, Racing, Crazy Kingdom, Tower of Doom and Classic.
Like Kahoot! and Quizizz, this is an online platform where teachers launch a game and students join with a code. For more information, watch the video below or alternatively look at How to play it with students or Contact me
